Independent Order of Odd Fellows History
1846 Independent Order of Odd Fellows as a friendly society, providing
sickness and funeral benefits to those not provided for by the Government.
1964 builds new head office to administer incoming funds centrally.
1970 starts providing life insurance.
1980 remains a friendly society but diversifies, providing health
insurance, savings funds, retirement villages and a travel agency. Theye are the
first friendly society to sell financial products other than health insurance,
launching the Supersaver Capital Guaranteed Fund in 1981.
1982 Supersaver Options achieves $70m of new business inflows.
1986 establishes the financial planning group now known as Winchcombe Carson
Financial Planning Pty Ltd.
1989 is the largest friendly society in Australia, with approximately 200,000
members and $2.4b in assets.
1999 Perennial Investment Partners Ltd, IOOF's asset management company, is
established as partnership between them and key investment professionals.
1999 establishes the MAX Master Trust, an industry leading master trust.
2002 IOOF Ltd demutualises and streamlines its business to focus on investment,
superannuation and retirement savings.
2003 The MAX Master Trust is rebranded to become IOOF Portfolio Service (IPS)
2003 IOOF Holdings Ltd lists on ASX.
2003 acquires the superannuation and investment business of Lifetrack Management
Ltd (formerly owned by AM Corporation Ltd), with $4b FUM, including AM's multi
investment manager (MIM) funds.
2004 Ron Dewhurst appointed as CEO. Their Company reaches $20b FUMA.
